The NXT-Gen Scholars programme was created to nurture the next generation of music publishers, offering unparalleled access to publishing communities, networking events, knowledge transfer and career-building resources.
We invite applications from those in the early stages of their careers (with 0-3 years of experience) who are proactive and driven to make an impact in the music industry and identify as belonging to a marginalised group and one or more of the 9 protected characteristics. These include age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation. (Also, including lower social economic background).
This programme is ideal for people of any age and for those who are looking at a career change and have always wanted to work in the Music sector or Music Publishing sector.

Benefits of becoming a NXT-Gen Scholar will include: having your own mentor from the industry, access to all MPA training courses, social events, networking opportunities, access to all MPA Employee Networks, one-on-one support from our DEI Team, wellbeing programmes, CV/application writing and interview technique support and review, specialist and technical workshops with guest speakers from our industry.
The programme aligns with the MPA’s pledge to meet the Ten-Point Plan and the Five Ps: Music Industry Action Plan developed by the UK Music’s Diversity Taskforce, to improve diversity and inclusion across the industry (as outlined in the UK Music Diversity Report 2022).
Please note that you need to be based in the UK to benefit from this programme.
