The MPA are pleased to see the music streaming reforms announced by Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy and Creative Industries Minister Chris Bryant, and we welcome the five new principles agreed between the UK’s record labels and the creator community.

These principles have been developed alongside the industry in a process overseen by the government in the Creator Remuneration Working Group. The MPA is proud to have represented publishers, songwriters, and composers during these meetings and to see that these efforts have led to significant progress, including principles aimed at fostering a fairer and more sustainable music ecosystem.

The MPA continues to work hard with its members, Government and the Competition & Markets Authority to ensure that the environment in which we collectively, or individually, negotiate music streaming-related licensing agreements with DSPs is balanced, fair and with appropriate legislative oversight.
