Introducing… New Employee Networks

Here at the MPA, we are proud of our workforce diversity but we know there is still some way to go.
In addition to our already established AccessAbility, RESPECT and BeYOU employee networks
(which provide support and seek to empower our disabled, Black and minority ethnic and LGBTQ+ communities),
we are delighted to introduce M3, GenerationMIX and BeWELL.

These newly launched networks will further promote inclusion and diversity for women, the mix of generations that make up our workforce and place health and wellbeing firmly at the centre of what we do.

How to join the MPA M³ (Menopause, Menstruation, Miscarriage and Related Health Matters) Employee Network

What is it about and who can join?
The M3 employee network is championed by Helen Choudhury (Head of Diversity, Equality and Inclusion) and will serve colleagues impacted by menopause, menstruation, miscarriage and related health matters, whether personally, through a family member or friend, or as an ally.

We recognise that menopause, menstruation and miscarriage are majority experienced by women and girls, but are also experienced by (but not limited to) people who identify as the following:

  • Women
  • Trans men
  • Intersex people
  • Non-binary
  • Gender fluid

The Network is open to all MPA Member employees, including those of us working at the MPA.

How to join the MPA BeWELL Employee Network

What is it about and who can join?
The BeWELL employee network is championed by Laura May (Director of May Music Ltd) and will serve colleagues impacted by mental health, whether personally, as a caregiver, through a family member or friend, or as an ally and will also cover wellness.

Some of the key issues to be covered by the Network will include:

  • Providing a supportive, open environment to network and socialise with their colleagues.
  • Providing a safe place for members to raise issues and concerns about mental health issues.
  • Raising awareness, sharing knowledge and contributing to the understanding of mental health and wellbeing within the Music Publishing sector.
  • Raising awareness, sharing knowledge and contributing to the understanding of mental health and wellbeing related to protected characteristics.
  • Challenging negative attitudes and behaviours about mental health issues and helping to reduce stigma of mental health within the workplace.
  • Access to wellness and wellbeing speakers, workshops, lunch and learn presentations, tips, toolkits, activities and events.
  • Access to wellbeing and wellness discount offers.
  • Access to part-funded Mental Health First Aid training.

The Network is open to all MPA Member employees, including those of us working at the MPA. It is also open to allies.

How to join the MPA GenerationMIX Employee Network

What is it about and who can join?
The MPA is committed to creating a working and learning environment which is inclusive of ALL age groups. We would like to encourage meaningful dialogue by leveraging the unique strengths of members representing diverse generational experiences. The GenerationMIX employee network is championed by Gary Bhupsingh (Vice President of UK Administration, Sony Music Publishing).

Some of the key issues to be covered by the Network will include:

  • Providing a supportive, open environment to network and socialise with their colleagues.
  • Providing a safe place for members to raise issues and concerns about age related issues and concerns, including discrimination.
  • Raising awareness, sharing knowledge and contributing to the understanding of shared experiences and individual experiences of members from different generations.
  • Challenging negative attitudes and behaviours about age including ageism within the workplace.
  • Discussing the social, economic and political climate that has helped shape each generation.
  • Exploring the characteristics and dynamics of the generations in the workplace today.
  • Driving awareness of generational working styles and preferences.
  • Comparing the differences and similarities across generations.
  • Promoting greater awareness and understanding of each other. For example, introducing reverse mentoring (when a more junior employee mentors someone more senior than them) in the workplace.
  • Looking at age through an intersectional lens and its relationship with other protected characteristics.
  • Access to expert speakers, workshops, lunch and learn presentations, tips, toolkits, activities and events.

The Network is open to all MPA Member employees, including those of us working at the MPA. It is also open to allies.

Please note that any personal information discussed during the meetings is strictly confidential and is not minuted.
