MPA Welcomes Government Conclusion to Not Proceed with Text & Data Mining Exception

On Wednesday 1st February, the Intellectual Property minister announced plans to scrap the introduction of the Government’s broad copyright exception for text and data mining purposes.

Paul Clements, CEO, MPA said:

“We very much welcome and thank George Freeman MP and Julia Lopez MP for reaching the sensible conclusion to not proceed with a Text & Data Mining Exception relating to AI creative works ingestion. The creative industries have been united in thought and voice on this issue and remain committed to listening and talking to Government to ensure that the UK maintains its world-leading standards in IP protection and copyright administration.”
