Decembeard | 1 – 31 December

Decembeard takes place annually in the UK to raise awareness and support for people with bowel cancer. Individuals are encouraged to grow beards or moustaches, or even wear fake ones, to show solidarity with those affected by this disease during December.

Bowel cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in England, affecting both men and women. It can have a significant impact on individuals and their families, both physically and emotionally. Decembeard provides an opportunity for people to come together and support each other whilst raising funds for research, prevention and treatment of bowel cancer.

Participants can create their own fundraising pages or join existing teams to collect donations from friends, family, colleagues and the wider community. The funds raised go towards supporting organisations that provide vital services such as information resources, helplines, counselling services, screening programs and research initiatives.

By participating in Decembeard, individuals not only contribute to the fight against bowel cancer but also help raise awareness about this disease within their communities. This event serves as a reminder of the importance of early detection through regular screenings and encourages open conversations about bowel health.

Whether you choose to grow a beard, or simply support those who do, Decembeard offers a meaningful way to make a difference in the lives of people affected by bowel cancer. Together, we can provide support, raise awareness, and ultimately work towards reducing the impact of this disease on individuals across the UK.
