MPA & BPI Announce Return of LA Sync 2024 | 9-13 September
Date
The UK recorded music industry’s annual trade mission to Los Angeles is back. This year’s edition will take place between 9-13 September 2024 and will again be held at the East West Studios in the heart of Hollywood.
The LA Sync Mission is organised jointly by the Music Publishers Association (MPA) and record labels association, the BPI, and this year celebrates its twentieth anniversary. It is open to all UK companies, songwriters and other creators actively engaged in the art of music synchronisation – or ‘sync’, where music is combined with moving images across film, TV and games soundtracks, as well as broadcast advertising.
The popular five-day mission has the ultimate aim of boosting UK music exports and comprises a broad-ranging and dynamic mix of panels, site visits, practical sessions, meetings and keynote speakers. It also includes the highlight of an exclusive networking reception hosted by the British Consul General, Emily Cloke, held in honour of the delegates
Applications to join the LA Sync Mission can be submitted here.
Chris Tams, BPI Director Independent Member Services, said: “The LA sync market continues to flourish so we are excited to be returning for our twentieth year, enabling label and publishing executives to gain valuable insights into the most lucrative sync licensing market in the US. With a proven track record for UK songwriters and music companies, the mission provides huge opportunity for UK music exports in the US’ booming media scene.”
Paul Clements, CEO, MPA, said: “We are delighted to co-host another year of the hugely popular trade mission LA Sync, alongside the BPI, to help introduce music publishers, songwriters and record labels to the US sync market. We expect delegates to benefit from the roster of panels and networking opportunities that will be on offer, which will support our objective of continuing to boost British music exports.”
The annual LA Sync Mission enables record label and music publishing executives, songwriters, composers, artists and managers to benefit from a unique insight into the operation of the lucrative sync licensing market in the US. The mission also provides delegates a priceless opportunity to meet with many of the key players and decision makers from the world of sync drawn from across the TV, film, advertising and games markets in the media capital of the US – the world’s largest entertainment market.
Now in its 20th year, the mission enables British music companies and individuals to meet with executives responsible for placing music in films including in past years Star Wars, Whiplash, Kong: Skull Island, Moonlight and Dunkirk, TV shows including NCIS, The Good Wife, Stranger Things, and American Gothic, and video games including Assassins Creed, FIFA, Forza Horizon 2, and Rainbow 6. More recent successful placements resulting from LA Sync include tracks for the box office smash Dune: Part Two, Amazon Prime’s Wilderness, Disney’s Star Wars: The Acolyte, 20thCentury Studio’s ALIEN: ROMULUS and Netflix’s Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F, amongst others.
The Mission fee is just £550 plus VAT per delegate. Please note that the LA Sync mission is often oversubscribed and, as such, bookings cannot always be guaranteed. Credit card details are taken on a hold basis only – and there will be no charge until the mission is confirmed and contact has taken place. Please note that regrettably there will only be space for ONE delegate per company.
