Printed Music Licensing Limited (PMLL) is a company owned by the Music Publishers Association (MPA) and exists to operate collective licensing schemes on behalf of its members which permit educational establishments (and other users) to copy and arrange printed musical works for use in education and other music settings.  The licence fees collected by PMLL are distributed on a to its music publisher and print music publisher members.
Reporting to: Managing Director, PMLL.
Main purpose of role: To assist with the collection of data used to distribute the licence fees obtained by PMLL, reporting data is required from licensees including schools, recording which copyright works have been copied and arranged under the licence.  In seeking to improve and upgrade its reporting capacity PMLL is going to conduct a schools data collection trial comprising of four areas of activity as follows:
(i) Appointing dedicated school outreach officers to collect schools reporting data based on face-to-face visits;
(ii) Operating an incentive scheme to rewards teachers and other schools’ staff for accurate, timely reporting;
(iii) Engaging a network of peripatetic music teachers to submit reporting data; and
(iv) Work with existing Academy Trust school networks to incentivise and improve data reporting.

It is proposed to appoint a part-time Project Co-ordinator working with the MD of PMLL to implement, co-ordinate and evaluate all elements of the data collection trial.

Location, hours & pay:
PMLL is proposing to conduct this data collection and associated school’s liaison activity on a trial basis during the Autumn and Spring terms of the 2024/25 school year, with a 2 – 3-month implementation / planning period beforehand and a further 1 – 2-month period afterwards for evaluation and reporting.  It is therefore proposed to appoint the Project Co-ordinator on a part-time, 3-day per week (21 hours) basis for a fixed-term of 12 months. The role will be based at PMLLs’ offices in central London where a blended working model operates, and some travel within the UK may be required relating to the work of the proposed school outreach officer roles. The salary will be £40-42K p.a. for the 3-day a week role.
Specific requirements:
Successful candidates will be required to undertake (or will have undergone) a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, as school visits may be involved.
Main duties & responsibilities:
1.To have overall responsibility for the implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation of the school’s data collection trial, reporting to the MD, PMLL.
2. To set out clearly and in detail the steps required to successfully achieve each element of the trial and the objectives of the business overall, including using appropriate project management software, to give the MD and the wider business visibility in terms of activities, timescales and milestones etc.
3. To proactively administer and implement the four elements of the trial at the outset including hands-on involvement in: the recruitment of school outreach officers and peripatetic music teachers; planning and implementing incentive schemes; engaging and liaising with associations and professional bodies as necessary to ensure the success of the trial.
4. Consistently monitoring the progress, quality and costs against budget of the trial overall, and reporting to the MD and wider business as required.
5. Communicating closely with school outreach officers, peripatetic music teachers, clients, suppliers and others involved in the project to ensure objectives are met.
6. To work closely with and monitor the activities of the school outreach officers including by setting challenging but achievable targets in terms of visits scheduled and data collections.
Targets
• Ensuring 60 schools visits per term are delivered by schools’ outreach officers

o Peripatetic teachers
o Incentive schemes
o Academy Trust schools
Requirements:
Essential:
• Previous experience in a project administrator / co-ordinator role; or evidence of previous experience in a busy, hands-on role involving the management and co-ordination of several streams of work activity.
• Demonstrate the ability to work under own initiative and without day-to-day supervision across several inter-connected streams of work.
• Evidence of attention to detail, problem-solving skills and the ability to positively influence others.
• Evidence of good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Evidence of good IT skills including experience of, or the ability needed, to use appropriate project management software.
• Demonstrate tenacity and the ability to successfully complete designated tasks.
Desirable:
• Previous project management or administrative experience working in schools or education generally
• Some knowledge of copyright licensing or other licensing activities
• Experience of working in, or knowledge about music collecting societies
• Experience of liaising with schools or other educational bodies in a professional capacity.
