Commercial & Trading Manager (Music Publishing & Online Sales) at The Royal School of Church Music

Location: Salisbury/Hybrid (at least 60% presence in Salisbury office)
Type: Full-time
Salary: £35K

The Royal School of Church Music are looking for a commercially driven, hands-on manager to grow sales and shape the future of their online music publishing business, RSCM Enterprises. This is a unique opportunity to take ownership of trading performance, drive customer growth, and enhance their e-commerce offering—while supporting a respected music charity. You’ll combine data insight, marketing, and digital expertise to improve sales across online and phone channels, working closely with a small, passionate team.

Key responsibilities

– Day-to-day ownership of sales performance (physical and downloads) backed up by the development of  simple, realistic sales plans and planning and delivery of marketing activity
– Working with partners and distributors (UK and International)
– Building a clear picture of customer groups and their needs
– Acting as the commercial lead for the website
– Identify priorities for improvement (speed, look and feel, usability, content) and
– Working closely with colleagues in the wider charity to ensure alignment

Essential skills (including);
– Commercial mindset: able to identify, quantify and deliver sales and growth with proven capability in this area
– Ability to understand customer requirements to inform marketing and business planning
– Data driven, able to manipulate and analyse data to draw and communicate conclusions.
– Practical and creative approach, with a willingness to roll up sleeves and “do the work”.
– Comfortable working independently, setting priorities and taking action to get things done; able to ask for help when needed.
– Ability to build effective relationships and work collaboratively.

Desirable (including);
– Interest in music – especially sacred and / or choral music (helpful, not required)
