Eminent composers published in those early days included William Walton, Ralph Vaughan Williams, and Constant Lambert. Today OUP builds on this and is proud to publish many world-renowned composers including Bob Chilcott, Cecilia McDowall, John Rutter, Sarah Quartel, Gabriel Jackson, Howard Skempton and Mack Wilberg among many others.


We are excited to be recruiting for a Marketing Assistant to join the Sheet Music team. In this diverse and wide-ranging role, you will be responsible for providing support in the delivery of marketing campaigns for sheet music and for assisting with ongoing, general marketing activities across a range of channels, ensuring activities and results are communicated to ensure accountability and continuous improvement. You’ll be working with a range of internal and external stakeholders including other teams within Sheet Music, the wider Academic Marketing team, composers, music industry bodies, and designers.

Duties of the role will include:

  • Assisting with content development (e.g. blogs, videos, infographics, image research) for global email campaigns, OUP Music Twitter and Oxford Choral Facebook, OUP website and events
  • Support the team to deliver marketing campaigns, making use of a wide range of tactics including digital and social advertising, email, social media content, events and web content
  • Management of our reviews process, ensuring the widest possible media coverage for our products
  • Take a key role in updating and developing the sheet music area of the OUP website
  • A wide range of other marketing tasks dependent on current priorities and campaigns

You’ll be passionate about marketing and have an enthusiasm for music (as demonstrated by your education, work, or personal hobbies and interests).

You will have:

  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, requiring excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on attention to detail
  • Good collaborative skills, including the ability to make connections and build relationships with those around you
  • Data and/or analytical skills to help you understand marketing results and act on them

Experience of marketing in some capacity is desirable, with experience using social media channels such as Twitter and Facebook a benefit. Knowledge of music and familiarity with desktop publishing programs (InDesign, Photoshop) and MS Excel would also be beneficial to applicants.

We’re all currently working from home at the moment due to COVID.  We are currently thinking through how we use our offices in the future and are open to discussing flexibility within this such as a blend of office and home working.
