Freelance Support for Copyright Department – ABRSM

  • Employer ABRSM
  • Location London
  • Application Deadline N/A

ABRSM is the UK’s largest music education body, one of its largest music publishers and the world’s leading provider of music exams, offering assessments to more than 630,000 candidates in 93 countries every year. ABRSM’s mission is to inspire achievement in music.

The Copyright Department at ABRSM is an interesting and fast-paced environment that has a broad remit, supporting the whole of ABRSM.  The primary focus of the department is to obtain all licences and contracts for ABRSM’s offer – which includes a wide range of books, videos, apps, syllabi, exams, seminars and courses – and making appropriate royalty distributions.  We are also responsible for monitoring, protecting and licensing out all of ABRSM’s intellectual property, along with dealing with ABRSM’s business affairs.

Legal support

We are looking for someone with a legal qualification – most likely a non-practising solicitor or non-practising barrister – to assist us on an ad hoc basis with occasional freelance work, drafting contracts and licences. We’re looking for someone with solid experience in the music publishing industry and an extensive in-depth current knowledge of publishing contracts/licences, who can draft/support/coach as needed, and advise us on best practice.

This work would be done at home, though it could occasionally involve visiting our offices near Moorgate.

Other casual worker support

We also need casual support to help us with a variety of projects and to assist the team during seasonal peaks in workload/over holiday periods.  We are, therefore, interested in hearing from anyone who has previous Copyright and/or Business Affairs department experience, covering any of the following areas – print licensing, synch licensing, digital licensing, royalties, and/or policing infringements.

This work could be done at home, though it could occasionally involve visiting our offices near Moorgate

These are great opportunities to work with a small, friendly, professional team.
