The Role

As Finance Director, based in the company’s head office in London, you will be a key member of the Senior Management Team, leading the global finance function and maintaining the company’s financial stability and future growth.

The main duties of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Take overall control of the company’s global finance function including copyright and royalties.
  • Manage month-end procedures and reporting into Sony Corporate Finance for all entities.
  • Manage all Financial Planning and Analysis requirements including detailed annual budgeting, mid-range planning, regular re-forecasting and variance analysis.
  • Presentation of financial results to senior management.
  • Responsibly for preparation of all statutory reporting and company secretarial filling requirements, including the company’s annual audited accounts.
  • Oversee all company tax reporting and submission requirements including corporation tax, VAT returns and withholding tax fillings.
  • Oversight of all financial operations including monthly reconciliation of all key accounts and payroll.
  • Preparation and circulation of detailed sales and cost analysis and reporting, challenging budget holders on both revenue and cost actuals and forecasts.
  • Oversight and input into all new deals, contractual and legal matters including financial modelling and analytics to support good decision making as required.
  • Key player in the strategic direction of the company, establishing strong working relationships with the CEO of Extreme Music, CFO of Sony ATV and all senior stakeholders and colleagues, both financial and non-financial.
  • Working closely with the Director or Royalties to manage the company’s bi-annual composer royalty distributions and all associated reporting.
  • Development of efficient and effective company policies and driving system and process improvement over time.
  • Responsibility for the management of company investments and working capital.
  • Management and development of a finance team of 9 including 5 direct reports.

Education, Experience and Person Specification 

Should be a qualified finance professional (ACCA / CIMA / ACA) with strong all round finance and management abilities, with a minimum of 4 years post qualified experience working at a senior level (Finance Director / Head Of Finance / Financial Controller) in a dynamic and commercial business, with a focus on quality, innovation and change.  Experience of working in a small, busy finance department, with any relevant media experience is an advantage.  Good people skills, with a commitment to high quality accurate financial information and reporting.

  • Ability to manage priorities and change in a fast pace environment.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Excel at an advanced level.
  • Experience using business analysis software such as Power BI is an advantage.
