About the Role
The Business Development Assistant role is to support the Business Development function to ensure efficient and effective sales, licensing and promotion activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage enquiry mailboxes and provide prompt and accurate responses to customer queries on the OUP catalogue and composers.
  • Administration and communication as needed for sales, licensing, distributed catalogues, and choral workshop events.
  • Creating or collating of assets and data in order to publicise the OUP catalogue and composers and to build income. For example, our audio file archive, promotional materials for retailers, and reading session booklets.
  • Support retail sales activity by sending information on new publications to trade customers globally and work with colleagues at the ABRSM to support and strengthen that relationship.
  • Provide news items and composer information to external agencies e.g. music associations, websites etc. to raise the profile of the OUP catalogue and build income.
  • Help organize, administrate and occasionally attend conferences and other events, online or in-person, to increase the profile and performances of OUP Music and its composers, and grow business.
  • Maintain databases of key contacts and research new contacts in order to help improve the global reach of the teams.
  • Support submissions for exam syllabus selection and other adoptions.
  • Maintain concert diary and research upcoming performances
  • Other administrative support for Business Development and the Director of Music Publishing as required.

We operate a hybrid working policy and are open to discussing flexibility within this. We expect this role to require (as a minimum) 2-3 days per month in our Oxford office.

About You
This is an excellent opportunity for someone embarking on their publishing career, who has an interest in classical music, enjoys working individually and as part of a team, and has strong interpersonal skills for building effective relationships with new and existing customers.

Candidates need to demonstrate they have:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Analytical thought, with a high level of numeracy
  • Ability to manage a varied workload
  • Strong IT skills with experience of Microsoft Office (and Adobe CS desirable)
  • Understanding of music (highly desirable) – how people use, buy, and perform classical and choral music
