Edition Peters Group is looking for an Artwork Production Assistant to join the team of this renowned, international music publishing house.

The Role

  • To assist the Production, Systems/Data and Editorial teams by preparing digital artwork and metadata.

Main duties

  • Locating existing digital artwork and assessing its quality and conformity, based on agreed rules and practical musical considerations.
  • Preparing and updating digital artwork by making or requesting new scans, creating page layouts, preparing new cover and title pages (in German and English), adding copyright lines and ISMN barcodes.
  • Preparing assets for use in print production and as digital products; extracting cover image files and musically relevant sample pages for use online.
  • Extracting metadata from assets and inputting them into spreadsheets and forms.
  • Maintaining file storage and databases.
  • Managing the transfer of artwork and metadata to our printers; liaising with them regarding data and artwork issues.
  • Liaising with colleagues across the company’s three offices, providing information and responding to requests.

Required skills

  • Experience working with desktop publishing software (such as Adobe InDesign) and spreadsheets (such as MS Excel or Google Sheets).
  • Knowledge of Western Classical music history and theory (composers; standard scorings and genres; terminology; notation and key signatures; etc.).
  • Understanding of practical requirements for scores used in performance.
  • Basic knowledge/understanding of written German.
  • Experience in text editing and a keen eye for text layout/presentation.
  • Attention to detail and consistency.
  • Good time management, ability to self-organise and prioritise.
  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently, including remotely.

Optional:

  • Interest in Contemporary Classical Music.
