The Accounts Assistant will develop core finance and accounting skills over time under supervision from the Finance Manager. The role will encompass maintaining the cashbooks, purchase ledger, sales ledger and fixed asset registers of the UK and overseas businesses. They will also be responsible for the preparation of payments, preparing monthly reconciliations of UK and international bank accounts, preparation of VAT returns for small UK subsidiaries and preparation of monthly reporting for sales & cost analysis to be communicated with the business, using a combination of excel reporting and Power BI. The position will be supported by the Finance Manager.

This position offers a unique opportunity to gain knowledge of core accounting in the music industry, as well as hands on finance experience in a small company that is part of Sony / ATV allowing exposure to larger company reporting requirements. The role provides a platform to gain an ACCA qualification with a study support package.


  1. Prepare monthly sales & cost financial reporting pack.
  2. Maintain cashbooks for the main UK entity and International subsidiaries.
  3. Maintain purchase and sales ledgers for the Main UK entity and International subsidiaries.
  4. Preparation of cheque payments and bank transfers to creditors and other payments arising.
  5. Dealing with credit control queries.
  6. Analysis of petty cash expenditure.
  7. Preparation of VAT returns for small UK
  8. Preparation of monthly management accounts for small UK companies and overseas subsidiaries.
  9. Preparation of monthly reconciliations for all UK and international bank accounts.
  10. Analysis and comparison to budget of travel and expense claims for all UK and overseas companies.
  11. Supporting the Finance Director and Finance Manager on any ad hoc reporting or projects as they arise from time to time.


Should have a minimum of 6–12 months experience working in a dynamic and commercial business, with a focus on quality, innovation and change. Experience of working in a small busy finance department, with any relevant media experience an advantage. Good people skills, with a commitment to high quality accurate financial information. Prepared to help out and be flexible in supporting the Finance Manager & Finance Director. Looking to develop a deeper understanding of finance and gain a professional qualification.

  1. Minimum 2:1 in an Accounting & Finance or similar degree.
  2. Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
  3. Confidence to ask questions and find out about the business and explore technical issues.
  4. Good communication and presentation skills.
  5. Ability to work at a detailed level.
  6. Ability to communicate and work well with finance and non-finance employees.
  7. Self-starter, “can-do” attitude, flexible nature.
  8. Ability to manage priorities and change in a fast pace environment.
  9. Comfortable using Microsoft Excel at an intermediate level.
  10. Experience using business analysis software such as Power BI or similar is desirable.


We expect the candidate to be working towards their ACCA qualification and will provide the following study support:

  • ACCA annual membership fees.
  • Up to 4 ACCA exam entry fees per year.
  • Up to 4 ACCA tuition courses per year.
  • Up to 4 ACCA revision courses per year.
  • 5 days study leave per exam session up to a total of 7 per year.
  • Exam leave for the date of each exam up to 4 per year.
