On Tuesday 26th July, the Competition & Markets Authority (CMA) released their interim report on music streaming.
This sets out initial findings from their study and reasoning for proposing not to move forward with a market version investigation.

Paul Clements, CEO, MPA said:

Text: “MPA welcomes the CMA interim report on the music streaming market, affirming that the common purpose of all music publishers is to champion songwriters and composers.
We are a community; focused on transparency and always achieving more for our creators.”

Lucie Caswell, Chief Policy, Rights & Public Affairs Officer said:

Text: Music publishers are a fiercely competitive, creator-led community.
We drive up value for song rights and we focus on opportunities, creativity and always achieving “the best contract terms possible”* for creators.
Cut through the noise and close the #valuegap.”
