Brussels, 10 September 2018 – ICMP, the global voice of music publishing, views the upcoming vote on Article 13 as crucial to the sustainable health of European culture, digital innovation and consumer offerings.

Having reviewed the proposals under consideration at the European Parliament, ICMP urges all Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) to vote in support of the package authored by the Rapporteur, Axel Voss MEP, on September 12.

This approach best assures the vitality of the European cultural ecosystem, fair compensation for creators, quality offerings for consumers and full respect for European fundamental rights of expression.

“We are pleased to join the many citizens, songwriters and artists, consumers and policymakers across Europe supporting this approach, even as powerful opponents mischaracterise its merits,” said ICMP Chair Chris Butler, “We urge that these important policy decisions be determined by the facts and their benefits for Europe.”
