Applications for the 15th annual LA Sync Licensing Mission, held at the iconic Capitol Tower in Hollywood, are now open! Hosted jointly by the Music Publishers Association (MPA), British Phonographic Industry (BPI) and Department for International Trade (DIT), the mission will take place from 10th to 14th June 2019.
Music publishing companies and individuals looking to participate have until Tuesday 23rd April to submit their applications.
The five-day mission consists of a broad-ranging and dynamic mix of panels, site visits, practical sessions, meetings and keynote speakers, as well as an exclusive networking Reception held in honour of our delegates hosted by the British Consul General, Michael Howells.
The mission enables music publishing and record label executives, songwriters, composers, artists and managers to benefit from a unique insight into the operation of the lucrative sync licensing market in the US. It also provides delegates with a priceless opportunity to meet with many of the key players and decision makers from the world of sync working across the TV, film, advertising and games markets in the media capital of the US.
Last year, over 40 selected British music companies and individuals descended upon Hollywood to meet with executives responsible for placing music in films including Whiplash, Kong: Skull Island, Moonlight and Dunkirk, TV shows including NCIS, The Good Wife, Stranger Things and American Gothic, and video games including Assassins Creed, Forza Horizon 2 and Rainbow 6.
Recent successful sync placements off the back of these sessions include tracks for the multiple award-winning The Shape of Water and for the #1 box office Halloween smash Boo 2: A Madea Halloween and Netflix’s The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina amongst others.
An announcement regarding the Songwriter Camp and Artist Showcase will be made shortly.
Commenting on the Sync mission Paul Clements, Chief Executive MPA Group said:
“For the 6th consecutive year, the MPA is delighted to once again be partnering with our friends and associates at the BPI and DIT for this year’s LA Sync Mission. As sync teams in music publishers continue to grow and compete in this evolving licensing landscape, this mission is an important opportunity for delegates to learn about and navigate international markets, while also expanding their networks.’’
Delegates interested in attending the mission should complete the application here. The deadline for applications is 23rd April 2019.
The mission costs £500 + VAT (£600) to register and interested parties should note that funding may be available through DIT, details of which can be obtained through firstname.lastname@example.org
