BBC Music Memories #WorldAlzheimersDay 21st September

Across the week of World Alzheimer’s Day, which takes place on Monday September 21, BBC Music is coordinating content across TV, radio and digital to highlight the power of music to stimulate memory for people living with dementia in the UK and across the world.

Central to the project is the BBC Music Memories website, created by BBC Archive Editorial. The website offers thousands of free music clips to stimulate memory with the ability to listen to full tracks on Spotify and Apple Music and to export playlists to Spotify. For World Alzheimer’s Day the international music catalogue is expanding to create a rich database linking communities across the world through music.

This pan BBC collaboration brings together the World Service Languages, World Service English, BBC Local Radio, Regional TV, Radio Scotland, Radio Wales, Radio Cymru, Radio Ulster, Radio 3, Asian Network, BBC One, BBC Archive Editorial, BBC Music and BBC Sounds.

The MPA are also running a special webinar on Thursday 24th September with Rebecca Sandiford, Commissioning Editor at BBC Music who will be presenting a video on their Music Memories initiative and providing a Q&A session afterwards to answer any questions you may have.
